Curtis Holder - Leeds and Birmingham Exhibitions

November 18, 2024

For over a year, Curtis Holder has been artist in residence at Leeds City Art Gallery. He’s spent 15 months producing new works in response to the gallery’s permanent collection as part of the UAL Decolonising Arts Institute’s 20/20 Project, and has produced over 200 drawings and 8 large portraits. At least one of these new works will enter the gallery’s permanent collection. A major display of the resulting body of work recently opened, and will run until 13th April 2025.

Curtis also has work on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. ’Drawing Carlos Acosta’ tells the story of his progress through the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year competition, culminating in his prize commission of  dancer Acosta. Admission to both exhibitions is free.
